Do you have any strange or unique philosophies that you live by?
When I was a kid, my cousin and I used to jump off of my roof for fun. Not sure why we thought it was so fun, but whatever. Anyway, when I face tough decisions in life; I sort of approach them with the same idea as jumping off a roof.Once you commit to the jump, there is no turning back. Gravity does the work, and all you have to do is jump. Its strange, but this really helps me push myself and do things I wouldn’t otherwise do.

you got WAY too deep into what an Atheist (atleast myself) believes. When it boils down, I dont see a need for God in my life. Its not complicated.religion lives on because its continually passed on and taught through generations, not because its totally the truth.i always wonder how its so easy for people to believe that life was created in 7 days, but its ridiculous to even mention we may have evolved frm apes.also, why does anyone really care if I dont believe in god? its not like an atheists NON belief should have an effect on your faith anyway, am I right?

well, its not an issue of hate or anything. If i see him, I will talk to him. He is just so weird and always strung out. There is almost no point talking to a junkie. This is sort of fucked, but whenever I here he is in jail, I hope that they convict him of something. Maybe a long sentence would be what he needs to get clean. I hope the best for him, but if something happens, it wont be a suprise or shock to me.

do you think staying married when you dont like eachother is a positive example? sticking to a process isnt always the best solution. if you try and fail to make something work, it should end.

i dont know about begging, but they havent put up much of a fight. you listen to the conservative guys in this forum, and america is on the up & up! bush is the man, and we will all see the light in 20 years when america rules the world.

well thats sort of the same i feel as an atheist. i do know personally that the bible, god, jesus, etc., do not fit into how i live life. but when we die, thats a different story. i will never claim to know what death is like, and im sort of excited to know (after i have lived a long life of course). i also said in another thread that faith is a totally personal thing. its different from person to person. im sure no two atheist think exactly the same, just as im sure no christians do. your idea of agnostic may be my idea of atheism. in the end its not that i have some personal grudge against the church (although i dont like the christian influence on many things) its just that living life with my own rules is so much better. there is no good and evil, just right and wrong and common sense.

However...What we can and cannot logically prove is an academic question far removed from reality. For example, can you prove the Easter Bunny does not exist? No. So does this mean you refuse to hold the belief that the Easter Bunny does not exist? Do you remain agnostic on the Easter Bunny's existence? Of course not! As humans, we don't really know anything for sure. For all we know, everything is a dream and we are in the matrix. The sun could set in the east tomorrow. This is no reason to go through life taking a stand on nothing. For this reason, I can confidently say that the Easter Bunny does not exist, although technically speaking, there exists the possibility that he does. This is the same way I feel about God. If you want to be a logical stick in the mud, and split hairs, then I'll tell you I'm an agnostic, as I don't want to be hypocritical and realize I cannot disprove God. However, in reality, just like I don't believe in the Easter Bunny, I also don't believe in God. It really boils down to probability, not proof, and how probable it is that God exists depends on how broadly you define God. If you define him broadly and nebulously, the probability increaes that he exists. The more specifically you define him, the more likely you're wrong. So if you define God as "something greater than ourselves," then I'm agnostic. If you define him as Jesus Christ, then I'm an atheist, in the same way I'm an atheist about the Easter Bunny. The point is that atheist and agnostic are not mutually exclusive. They're more like two different, but similar points along a continuum of certainty of knowledge.
i think when it comes to that sort of stuff, its really an individual thing. i obviously cant go and prove to anyone else that god doesnt exist, cause if you believe in god, im obviously wrong. but i know personally, in my mind, there is not a god. so just like most things in life, every case is different from person to person. im willing to bet lots of people say they are atheist, but are not genuinly convinced. during hard times they will doubt their own atheist views and maybe even pray. i guess im saying that a big part of faith is knowing yourself.

no sweat! i use atheist because its the simplest explanation. whether or not I truly am one by definition, im not so sure. i think when you are raised with no religion, you are sort of an outsider looking in from the beginning. it really breaks away all sorts of preconceived ideas of how we should live, and lets you really figure out what you think is right and wrong as an individual. Also, it gives you freedom to seek out whatever works for you. my brothers and I happened to go towards non-religious type believing, but my sister decided on the catholic church.

it does go both ways, youre exactly right. so the sex was consensual. that means when both parties agreed to get freaky, they both should have understood that pregnancy is ALWAYS a possibility. if guys cant understand that the possibility is out there, they shouldnt be having sex. it doesnt matter if you feel its fair to pay for a child you dont want. you still made the choice to go ahead and get naked and have sex. its nobodys fault but your own at that point.isnt a big complaint in this country about how nobody excepts responsibility for their actions? maybe it applies to everything else, just not something major like children.

how about for the most obvious of reasons. there just isnt much good news coming out of iraq. is a feel good story of a couple iraqi's doing good really a bigger story than 56 dead iraqis today alone?

im sure YOU cared all about the iraqi people and their rights years ago, right? well, that is hardly the case for most americans. most of us gave 2 shits about the iraqi people until the reasoning for us to be in this war had to change. now all of a sudden, all those bleeding heart conservatives that love their guns and church are all for helping the poor oppressed people of iraq.

thats not what i said at all. if i get a girl pregnant, i can voice my opinion on it, but in the end its up to her if she wants to abort it.my point is...if you get a girl pregnant and she has the baby, its your child. i dont care if you hate the girl, or love her, you still got her pregnant. it is your responsibilty to make every effort to be that childs father for atleast the next 18 years. its not easy, but that the price you pay for being irresponsible.of course, as with anything, there are ALWAYS exceptions.

And we like how Liberals are praying for us to fail in most everything we do. Good news for America, is bad news for liberals. Funny how it works that way. True Pessimists

maybe it dances around a blunt "god hates fags" message, but its still not a proper shirt for a kid to be wearing in school. i dont think too many christians would be all happy about an atheist teen sporting an anti-religion shirt. you would get this same sort of backlash on that end.

Again with the civil war though. So far the media has been trying to get a civil war going for the last month and it's not panning out. Why? Because both the Sunnis and Shiites know who's behind the attacks and are working together against the insurgents/terrorists, but of course that news is getting very little airplay because it's not the huge drama a civil war makes on the nightly news. 12 divisions are up and running of Iraqi military and are up to about 50% now of the military patrols/actions going on. Iraqi police are now stationed and working in the Sunni Triangle. So yes, progress is being made daily.
anyway you slice it, even if we are only hearing about the negative in iraq, it is A LOT of negative shit. insurgents cutting off the heads of teachers in front of students isnt some minor thing. can you imagine that happening in america, or any other civilized country?
4-19-06
So 3 years later, how much progress have we really made in Iraq?
they cant agree on a government, cant build a police force, and cant train an effective army. on top of all that, the country is slowly degrading into a civil war, so when all is said and done, what will we have accomplished there?american soldiers are still dying on a daily basis, and shit like this is happening...http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/12342623/

unfortunately, $60 a month is a big deal for alot of people. (of course not those OT'ers pulling 11ty billion dolla paychecks, but for us average mortals) i drink coffee in my kitchen every morning, and my only real perk is cable tv and internet at home. i have enough to worry about financially, so figuring in the cost of gas right up there with bills like my car payment, its not something i should be happy about.

yeah, none of you seem to live out west. land of the sprawling cities and crappy public transit. $4 gas prices would piss me off. and its not the dems that made their millions in oil, so wtf are some of you talking about?? this is what the dems wanted, my ass! as a regular old american, its not like i have a bunch of alternatives to buying gas.

i think maybe if god was this giant "god like" figure, i would sort of be forced to admit, and change my opinions about his actual existence but i doubt i would change much about how i live my life.that said...having god come to your doorstep would probably be a pretty traumatizing event in life, so its hard to say how one might react, realistically and...this will never happen, so no point wondering about it.
